Not trying to fill NoM's shoes (I find her stilettos pinch rather badly), but the new Aldi easter leaflet has some interesting wines arriving this week :

The Ribera del Duero looks very promising, as does the Prosecco.

Ribera del Duero and Prosecco...two of my favourite wines.

:-)
Lidl have a Limited Edition Cimarosa Chilean Pinot Noir Gran Reserva, or Cabernet Sauvigon Gran Reserva 75cl for £9.99. Not being a wine buff would that be a good buy? My family are here for the weekend. Some like Red and another prefers white. Haven't seen an Aldi leaflet.
I found a beautiful Lindemans Chardonnay 2010 in the co-op the other day. The stock was all reduced to clear so I bought several bottles at £3.37 each.
Aldi wine is very good!

I'm not familiar with the Lidl range - but both of the wines you mention have won some independent awards.

I think Chilean Pinot Noir can be very nice indeed & if I was going to plump for one of the two I'd lean in that direction.
well done you, sunny, not sure if NoM's feet are size 8s to fit me.....

a Cellar Cal Pia 2006, a Priorat from Spain, a little too heavy for me....a Santa Digna 2008, a Chilean Carmenère at £6-50, not bad value and drinkable. Got a bottle of Raso de la Cruz with the M&S £15 deal and ok as plonk.....

And a Vibalba 2010 Reserva fromn Argentina sitting here for me, a Cab Sauv, Malbec, Merlot blend from Argentina - ex Sainsbury for £7-49 waits me - looking forward to enjoying that.
Don`t bother with the Rioja Reserva in that ad. It`s dire. Good for cooking though. The vinegar flavour lent itself to the sauce in my cog au vin.

Thanks for the warning - Aldi does have the odd clinker as well as some good value bottles - hadn't tried that one & will now avoid.
AYG - could you type down exactly what it has on the label....

Cimarossa to me is American from Howell Mountain in the Napa Valley - the Cimarossa Rive di Cimarossa Cab Sauv is excellent but would be typically more like £30 to £40 a bottle for a 2007 !
Ok - its a brand name of Lidl and can encompass a whole range of sins as to blending grapes from the New World, Chile California, S.Africa etc......therefore probably a consistent med quality....anybody tried it? It's the equivalent of claret to give you an analogy. A tenner sounds a lot.....Sainsburys does an ok claret for £5 under their brand.
