Thank you all, Benecol - that was the brand I was thinking of too, I am surprided they don't do a cooking oil.
Flora Pro Active is on the list too. More research needed I think, just found a 'do not use canola oil' report that seems s bit scary http://www.ithyroid.com/canola_oil.htm what do you think? |

Some supermarket own brand vegetable oils are 100% rapeseed which is cheap and excellent. Just check the label.

We use sunflower oil - I need to reduce my cholesterol but unfortunately rapeseed gives me allergic rhinitis so I'd be cautious about using that oil.

As I said before 'Crisp & Dry' Rapeseed, I don't think any oil actually reduces cholesterol it just keeps it in check.

C&D is what we currently use, with occasional use of olive oil. So I guess that's it. Thanks all.

Probably Olive Oil is the best and of all the different types Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the best as it is more natural and not processed as much as the other olive oils although it is the dearest.

we were told at the heart clinic that if we must have anything fried to use rape seed oil, including deep frying, its fine.

Nearly vegerable oil is better for you than animal based fats as they dont contain cholestral, But be very carful with Palm oil and produce that contain it, and do use it for frying as it change to quite a nasty little bugger at high temprature and will do you no good at all in the long run

What we need to find is something that will scrub off any existing deposits. (Without causing blockages elsewhere as stuff gets removed.) I don't suppose anything is that good ?
