turkey help, please!

I've just had my online grocery delivery.. guess which item was substituted? yep.. the turkey!

right, I have 6 for Christmas dinner, and most of us would prefer the dark meat. yesterday I went to a butchers and picked up an extra thigh joint.

so, the substitutes I've received are 2 turkey crowns weighing just over 2kg each. (it seems there should have been 3, but one is missing). so they're boneless, right? how many would one of them feed? or should I cook both?

and do you think I have a hope in hell of getting extra thigh joints today??

Is the dark meat the stuff on the bones (I don't do meat on bones), does it actually taste better (I am a very fussy eater)?

In a turkey the dark meat is on the leg and thigh. White meat is from the breast.

hi ttfn, I've got everything I wanted (food-wise!) and I'm quite relaxed about the whole thing.. 11 people, and my brother is bringing a sick, fitting dog that can't be left alone.. you couldn't make it up! I have a bottle of wine in the kitchen already. I hope you enjoy your day, too :o) xx

sherrard, it's a matter of taste. I think the white meat can be a bit tasteless but it's healthier. I hate to say it but... all meat is on bones initially, lol.. it all just needs carving ;o)

Thanks HC - sorry if I have come across as a dimwit but obviously we don't have turkey often and (as I have said) I am massively fussy and don't do bones, etc!

I like to be a bit naiive in my meat eating (don't eat much meat) but know I need to! Each to his own.
