Husband assured me we had white fish in the freezer for a fish pie. Went down to get it and it is mahi mahi which I think is an oily fish like tuna. I usually put cod or hake into fish pie with smoked haddock, salmon and prawns. Should I get some white fish or will the mahi mahi be OK?

I normally put it in thai fishcakes.

Thanks

Oh I love mahi mahi/dorado ( or as they call it in Barbados - dolphin)! I wouldn`t say it`s like Tuna, more like Halibut. It keeps it`s shape so it should be OK in a pie.
I had Mahi Mahi in the Turks and Caicos islands. It was cooked for us Tepanyaki style.

There is no rhyme and reason why it cannot go in a fish pie.
smoked fish is an oily fish
Why not - if you don't like it, then never again. On the other hand it may be great and its one of the ways new recipes emerge.....
