I like Tesco stores.

I like Tesco stores, they have a wide range of products, prices are competitive, parking is convenient, staff are helpful and I do not mind that they are dominant in their industry, why would I criticize them for being successful?
I hear a lot of people complain about Tesco, but there are still queues at the che

Fun biased and personal review of our nearby stores. I too like Tesco but have lots more favourites:

Co-operative (big store). Best stock in the area and much smaller than the big boys. Best green veg. Best sausages range. Best salad. Pleasant staff. Quickest for a full shopping list. Close at 20:00.

Co-operative (little store) (3 of). Good stock....

Chuck, I never had you in mind as a Mail reader! ;-)
I only have easy access to city-centre shops-a Tesco metro, Aldi, Lidl, and a medium sized Sainsbury's. Tesco's is the pits-I agree that their employees don't know the meaning of customer service. They are too busy shuvving bodies through a queue. They are mostly rude and surly. As for choice-there is none. I prefer to shop around, rather than be loyal to any one shop.
I shop at Asda as they were the only supermarket where I could guarantee getting a twin baby trolley when thing 1 and thing 2 were babies (had trouble with Sainsburys and in the end they suggested that I phoned to say I was on my way and they would get a trolley ready for me, but even that was problematic). The staff at our local Aldi are excellent even though they are always so busy (the deputy manager gave thing 1 a flower yesterday and she was thrilled and he has previously given the children chocolate bars to share).

Co-operative (big store). Best stock in the area and much smaller than the big boys. Best green veg. Best sausages range. Best salad. Pleasant staff. Quickest for a full shopping list. Close at 20:00.

Co-operative (little store) (3 of). Good stock. Best fresh burgers. Takes ages to pay. Close at 23:00 .

Tesco Extra - Sell everything. Nice cafe. Great deli. Best washing powder. Best cereals. Best root veg. Best frozen food. Queues at checkouts. Self-checkout too noisy. Open nearly 7/24. Very pleasant at 02:00 midweek but you can't buy beer at that time!

Tesco Express (2 of) - Mostly overpriced, convenient, quick. Great £1 sandwiches if you get there early. Apparently the land owners sell petrol too.

Asda superstore (2 of) - Sell everything if you can find it. No staff on the shop floor. Dubious "fresh" veg. Best fresh fish and pizza. Best non-food. Lights too bright (a migraine shop). Pay parking.

Sainsbury superstore (2 of) - Helpful staff. Great stock. Dubious cafe. Best bread range by far. Best fresh meat range. Best canned range. Best non-UK food. Best chemist. Queues at checkouts. Self-checkout drives you nuts. No I haven't got a ****ing Nectar card!

Waitrose (big store) (2 of) - Helpful staff. Subdued lighting. Best cooked meats. Best wines. Limited basics like bread. Best ice cream. Best place to shop for a dinner party. No queues. Don't dress scruffy. Deposit on the trolley.

Londis (2 of) - Overpriced. Good "top-up" food stock. Indifferent staff.

One Stop (4 of) - Dubious food (check the "sell by"). Cheap booze. Detached staff. Best newspapers in the afternoon.

Lidl - Wonderful range of foreign food. Best cheese. Best sandwiches. Interesting range of products with similar packaging to UK brands. Spectacularly fast checkout - but don't forget you bags.

Aldi - Like Lidl but somehow not as good. Best tomatoes and lettuce. Best branded instant coffee.

Local corner shop - Friendly staff. Limited stock. Best milk and eggs. Cash only.

Makro - Good prices but quantities too large. Best shop for large party. No queues. No idea how they stay in business.

Costoco - Never built the store. Must be some competition in the area.
In the interests of fairness I forgot to mention that we have a M&S superstore (with a huge food hall) and many other miscellaneous M&S shops. This makes 10 M&S food retail outlets locally. Wow there must be a lot of people round here who like M&S.
maggiebie, it was a good post, I enjoyed it.
I live close to lots of supermarkets, I tend to shop around, tesco are good for some things, asda are good for others same as sainsburys, co-op, aldi ect

tesco has improved since they got rid of the nagging car washers
Tesco - Very Little Help
where do you live methyl?
@cazzz1975
Location is private. The big Sainsbury and Tesco stores still have the car washing pests if that's a clue.
Shopped in Tesco today. Low fat chicken breast fillets 516gm packs were £6.00. Low fat chicken breast fillets 258gm packs were £2.50. Bought two smaller packs and saved £1.00 over the bigger pack. Check their pricing thoroughly when you shop at Tesco - they're always doing this sort of thing.
I've probably moaned about Tesco on here but I do like shopping there too. Its the nearest big supermarket to me but recently I too have found the price of their stuff rise. A few months ago (before the big price drop) their 2 pack mangoes were £1.50. They then labelled the mangoes as being £1.65 but reduced to £1.50 as part of the big price drop. Bit sneaky but then the price of food changes every day due to inflation etc.
I like Tesco, it's my shop of choice. Second is Morrison's (very local) - our local small ASDA is cr@p.
Most of us have to use whatever is close. We have a large Tesco out of town and a very small Morrison's in the town centre. Any other supermarket is at least 10 miles away so by the time you have payed the petrol to do a min 20 mile round trip it is very expensive to shop anywhere else.
