I always have it in my head that your not allowed to take your own snacks into the cinema, so generally buy the kids popcorn and drinks there.

I am taking a group of kids to see Harry Potter at the Vue tomorrow and reckon it'll cost a fortune - can I take snacks and drinks in with us? Can't see anything on the website but it's not a great site since they updated it.

Thanks muchly

I would keep it hidden just in case; I used to work at a cinema and always turned a blind eye to people bringing in snacks but the manager and many of the staff wouldn't allow it!
Well whenever we took the kids to the cinema we always did in one of those large trendy handbags etc.... i think a lot of people do but whether you're technically supposed to I really dunno.
i always take drinks and things in myself, but in my handbag so no-one can see
hi annie, i don't know if one is allowed to take refreshments in that have not been bought there , however I do it all the time. ! Cartons of juice slide into pockets and handbags, and pastilles and other sweeties into pockets too. If popcorn is on the menu, you don't have much choice !! Hope you all have a good time

I've never done it, mainly because I don't carry a bag! But I can't actually remember seeing any signs saying you can't. I think it will be quite difficult to enough snacks for half a dozen growing boys for a film that lasts over 2 and half hours!
The only restriction relates to hot food purchased off the premises.

You can take your own sweets and snacks (but it might still be best to keep them out of sight until you're in the auditorium!)

I was thinking of getting those bags of ready made popcorn - 1 between 2. Some kind of bottled drinks and making up some pick and mix sweeties with bags from the supermarket. I guess I could sort of get it in a back pack

Aww thanks Chris and all you guys - I'll definitely stock up tomorrow - I don't mind maybe getting them an icecream or something there, but six 11 year olds will take a bit of feeding!
and never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever buy popcorn or (more importantly) the hot dogs and never ever ever let them put ice in your drink!!!! If I told you why you would throw up,
dotty what do you think happens to the popcorn and hotdogs?
Question Author
you can't leave it like that dotty.........
I bring booze all the time. Most of the time we'll bring a box of candy. I've never really worried about it because anyone that charges six bucks each for popcorn and a coke will live without another four dollars for a dollar box of junior mints
Last time I went to the cinema, I was thrown out for bringing my own food.
My argument was that prices at the cinema are outrageous. Besides, I haven’t had a barbecue in ages.

:o)
Food, crinkly wrappers, packets, trying to empty the remains of your drink through a straw and general loud masticating munching noises should be banned from cinema's oh and people with weak bladders who can't remain in there seats for 15mins without getting up and disturbing everyone else............apart from that I say yeah sneak your food in! (you'll need to re mortgage a property to buy snacks form our local cinema!)

can't take booze - will be driving and supervising. I think at 6 dollars you are doing well - the popcorn here costs more than the cinema ticket....and that isn't cheap.

lol fan!
Cineworld definitely have rules. I always bring in a bottle of water. I would transfer some popcorn into non crackly plastic bags. Then borrow a large handbag from someone. Surely one of the mothers of the other children could lend one to you.
Question Author
bimbo, looks like vue don't have a rule against it - i'll go with the idea of a non crackly bag though - I am sitting in the row behind them and with the normal bags I think i'd be tearing my hair out!!

As for borrowing a handbag - I don't really recall any of the woman being particularly "bag" people either - bit strange really. If I do need a bag for any reason I use a small backpack otherwise I just carry a purse/wallet and shove a lip gloss in my pocket :o)

I think the backpack will do - I am pretty sure I don't look the type to be pirating movies so shouldn't think that they'll search me.
ive taken kfc in before

MrI - drives me bonkers too lol. However, I don't recall any of the HP movies as being particularly quiet so I am sure it will be fine. The birthday boy will need to sit at the end of the row as he will be at the loo a fair few times :o). It's the cost I am scared of. It's already cost me over £50 for the tickets!
