It may not be the question, but it is the answer.
ummmm - I am not going to stand back and condone something that is dangerous to the body, I have also given her the answer. The message is very clear, cut back and the weight will come off as the unit count goes down. How the cutback is achieved dont really care, but my point at that level of consumption he/she may need some help, and I underscore "may"

And I am not getting into a pizzing match with you, ummmm, over this on a Friday night at 7pm.

Take it or leave it.
Oh right...so someone asks a question and you answer a completely different one. Is that how the site works?

People don't need lectures from strangers....unless they ask for one!!!
well sqad is around and lets see what he says and, yes I will agree you that slow consumption helps, but it is overall too much. I don't understand why you are being blind to that.
And people don't need arguments on their threads either.
how narrow minded we can be
I have only just seen this thread and certainly the liver, male or female would have great difficulty in coping with it.

Back to the question.....that depends upon how overweight you are to start with, many alcoholics are thin to start with and malnourished due to various dietary deficiencies.

How much weight would you lose?......I can't say.

Thanks for the replies, its for my friend. I have told her she is consuming 1000 extra calories per night as it is full bodied red, so thats an extra 7000 per week, just over 2lbs. Thats right is it? She wants to loose a stone. And its no good for the liver....
well done wanda - you might want to keep on at her her to get some action here - and in doing so you are being a good friend - anyone else that you can turn to who knows her well, e.g family?

Apologies oce again if I implied that you were a boozaholic. One other thing, when she says a bottle a night it is probably even more. Most docs factor in some 20 to 30% more on the number of units that the "patient" confesses to.....
I hope " Drink slowly to limit the effects of alcohol on your liver" is not current medical advice.....
overall, I do agree with you on that, pasta.

what damage could she do to her liver? she has been like this for years...... I will keep this to show her
I'd also say that her friend may not loose 2 lbs per week just from giving up X number of calories-weight loss is more complicated than that-but it will help.
try passing this one onto her.
