....is the day we first met, on a blind date, all those years ago. however, we never celebrate valentines day, or ordinary wedding anniversaries, or buy sloppy sentimental cards for any occasion. doesn't mean we don't love each other, we just don't feel the need for such sentimentality.
what about you??

Oh for the romance of a Jehovah's Witness..........
Depends on whether you are together most of the time
I always thought that the purpose of Valentine's day was to enable unmarried people to declare their love for someone anonymously, in the eventual hope of matrimony. To that extent it is totally irrelevant to married couples.
If I saw a card that made me laugh then I would get it for the man hostage, I did last year.

i don't think it makes any difference daisy. i know people who are together all the time and send each other huge cards and make a great big deal out of all those days.
When Mrs MM and I got together we always bought each other a nice card for Christmas, Birthdays etc. We could not afford presents back then. When it came to moving house we found we had a suitcase full. We decided to each keep a favourite one and skip the rest. We have never bought each other a card since.
I've never bought my OH a card for Valentines day...nor him me.

I have bought him a thank you card though...
We don't buy each other presents on valentines day but we do give stomach wrenchingly soppy cards. I like it.

why, ummmmm, had he done something really nice?
We don't do Valentines, to be honest we don't do much for Christmas and Birthdays apart from nice cards for each other either, we just have us and the catz... no need for gifts we don't need.
mr fruit says every year I dont need to buy a card and flowers to let you know I love you, and we have been married 29 years, and I have never received anything for valentines day in all that time, and yet a friend of mine used to receive the biggest bunches of flowers delivered to work for valentines, birthdays etc and her OH really make a big deal of it with suprise outings to theatres and restaurants and they split up recently so maybe there is something in it.
Yes Ethan...he looked after me when I was at my lowest point. Looked after the kids...never complained, always rubbed my back, never lost patience with me. When I came through the other side I realised how brilliant he had been so got him a card and a present. He was well chuffed...
