Taco Bell in England

We have just been having a discussion and we were wondering why there are no Taco Bells in England. When my friend called them up to enquire about setting up a franchise they sounded very cagey and would not even send her any information ??????? lady_p_gold (Sun 06:31 26/Nov/06)

(Sun 12:50 26/Nov/06) It's because American and English food is entirely different and I think they expect that English people wouldn't like it, I love it it's the greatest takeout ever!!Most english people probably wouldn't like it...

(Sun 13:11 26/Nov/06) Taco Bell are in the YUM food company, which KFC are now in, as well as the American Brands 'A +W' and 'Long John Silvers'. These two companies are now double branding with some KFCS in the country including Derby, Birmingham and Manchester, so i won't be suprised if it won't be too long until a Taco Bell will be appearing at some KFC restaurants across the country very soon as part of their new double branding strategy.

(Sun 17:50 26/Nov/06) Of course they would go down well here! Most peeps I know are very cosmopolitan when it comes to food, I don't think we have enough decent Mexican or even Tex/Mex restaurants in this country, but certainly lots of all other cuisines.

Bring it on!!!

(Mon 00:34 27/Nov/06) Here in the USA we have Taco Bells all over the place - just like McDonalds. They are fast food restaurants - and kind of an American type of Mexican fast food - you would have to be very open minded to consider it Mexican food. Having said that - I love the burrito supreme from Taco Bell :) I love REAL Mexican food too - but still like good old Taco Bell.

(Mon 10:18 27/Nov/06) Well of course Taco Bell is to Mexican, what McDonald's is to say Hard Rock when it comes to comparison of the cuisine. But Taco Bell is still a decent meal even if not entirely resembling a Mexican one. Whilst in California my favourite Mexican restaurant chain was Red Onion, the chilli steak was to die for! Individual Mexican outlets were 'a plenty' and some of the best meals we had were in a restaurant in Sacremento Old Town. Just like walking into a Saloon bar in the Wild West! Salt rimmed Margeritas to begin and deep fried Ice cream to finish - the entrees were magnificent!

This is the page for the international franchise information on all of the Yum brands.

The worst one of their's is Long John Silver's Fish - if we go for fast food fish, we always go to Captain D's.

(Tue 21:31 05/Dec/06) IF you should get a Taco Bell in the UK and IF the ground beef is the same 'quality' as they serve here, I highly recommend that you try any of the food prepared with CHICKEN. The chicken-based food items are generally edible if you're in a pinch.

I've spent a LOT of time in Mexico and can verify that Taco Bell is not authentic, but rather a blend of American and Mexican ideas. The Mexicans have no sour cream or yellow cheese, for example. I happen to like sour cream and yellow cheese, so it's not a criticism, just an observation.

Just my opinion based on my experience...

(Tue 10:38 06/Nov/07) I would love it if Taco Bell could be introduced to UK if its owned by yum along with KFC and Pizza hut why not, mexican, well in UK they refer them as tex mex here go down really well with the downside being an expensive meal as there is little competition. Chances are Taco Bell wont be in the UK but Mexican food is really easy and quick to make yourself. Me and my partner eat mexican food a lot and have the usual tacos, quesadilas (spelling), burritos.
