Beware Of The Pollen Beetle!

Yesterday an elderly friend gave me a huge bunch of sweet peas from his allotment. They were beautiful and the perfume was wonderful. I brought them home and placed them in a vase and put them in the front window.

This morning, when I got up and opened the curtains, the white window frames were covered in tiny black pollen beetles. I had forgotten that sweet peas were a haven for these little creatures.

I managed to get rid of most of them but they are still lurking around.

So....beware.

I've never heard of them before, my neighbour has grown some lovely sweet peas and put some in a vase in her conservatory.
A couple of years ago I found a lovely coral coloured beetle on my tub of Oriental lillies, they looked lovely..so exotic til I found out that these LILY beetles can strip the plants to nothing in a short time. I was advised to pick them all off and kill them.

I'll do that next time, divebuddy.

AYG, I have lily beetles too. Lovely things but a real pest.
Lucky you, Tilly...my sweet peas haven't even got out of the starting gates this year, no idea what we did wrong, but nothing germinated !! Grrr.

Well, seekerz, I won't go on about how lovely they are then. x

extra 'e' here. Sorry.
Lol, Tilly xx. Actually, thinking about it, I don't think we get pollen beetles here in Oz, I've never noticed if we do.

That's alright then, seekeerz. I bet you have other creepy crawlies that we don't get, though. Like kangaroos.
