deep fat cooking

I've recently been given a 1ltr. deep fat fryer but no instructions other than how to use it properly. My question is , after cooking ,say, chips, do I leave the oil in the cooker until I want to use it again, and if so, how often should I reuse it before disposing, or should I remove it each time (after cooling) and store until required?

Most people leave it in the pan IMO, as long as you keep the lid on.
Allow it to cool then put the lid on to avoid condensation, the lid is to keep the sun light off as this breaks down the oil, it also stops things droping in too.

If it a long time between usages best to strain it back into a container and seal it, but ensure its cold if the container is plastic.
