Frozen sliced peppers question

Hi All,

I like the peppers you get with the little salad bowls and stuff from the likes of Asda.

I saw a frozen pack of sliced peppers in farmfoods and decided to buy them.

However when I leave them out to defrost they are too mushy and don't taste too great in the end.

I ain't great at cooking, so I don't know much on it, I assume the ones I eat in the salad bowls aren't cooked and just raw.

Have I bought the wrong type or should I be eating them before they totally thaw out?

Or do I boil them to get them a little tougher again?

TIA

The ones you get in salad are raw. The frozen ones will be part cooked and are not meant to be defrosted for eating with salad, they are meant to be used when cooking.

The sliced ones you bought that have gone mushy will be edible in something like a risotto. For salads you need fresh peppers. Remove all the little seeds when you slice them.

There is something really wrong with frozen sliced peppers and onions and mushrooms etc. unless that is you have trouble slicing them due to arthritis or something.
The ones you buy in salad bowls are raw.

Boiling them will make them soggier.

I don't know if they are frozen from raw or cooked. Check the bag they came in.
I think that they have a high water content, so even if frozen raw they will be soggy when defrosted.
I use them all the time to add the right amount to a chilli con carne. A whole fresh one is often a bit too much, and results in wastage.
