Heston's Hot Cross Buns

Has anyone else tried the Earl Grey and Mandarin hot cross buns which Heston Blumenthal has made for Waitrose? We treated ourselves to a couple of packs - they are absolutely delicious, definitely a cut about the average squashed bun you get in other shops. Not cheap though, but very tall - I'd buy them again!

If it's Heston, boxy, do they require anything more complicated than bunging in the toaster?

We had shocking trouble with the snails and dry ice routine when I tried the porridge...

They are £1.25 for two buns, garfookle, so not cheap - and no, sloopy, you just cut and toast. They are so well worth trying - I might pop into Waitrose next week and see if they have any left.

PS they are so fat that I had to toast the halves under the grill - they wouldn't fit in the toaster!

We had one plain with butter, and the other one with Rose's Orange Marmalade (to reflect the mandarin) - I like them plain best.

Psst - we still have another pack, resist!
£1.25 for two??

Pass the smelling salts....

I know, but it IS Waitrose.... and there is enough bun as if you had bought 4 anywhere else... I don't go in Waitrose very often!
