What goes with this?

I'm having my family round tomorrow, and will be doing something to eat.
Not cooking a roast, as there's 16 of us and I don't want to be in the kitchen all day!
So, I'm doing nice big granary rolls (beef and horseradish, mature cheddar and caramalised onion, pork, stuffing and cider apple sauce) and a load of roast potatoes.

What can I do to go alongside this?

Thanks :-)

A big bowl of red salad.
Sliced red cabbage, radishes, red apple, red onion, grated beetroot. Will make a sweet and warm side dish which would compliment most of your other ingredients.

Nice idea. What other warm dish would you do?
It all sounds good....but I question why-if you are putting roasties in-it's seen as 'being in the kitchen all day' if you bung a joint in also? Those sarnies are not going to make themselves-not with all those fillings....lol
can I come too ?
I think that is plenty.... decent beer and vintage cider would be good
A nice big pot of steamed red cabbage with apple would go very nicely with that!

Thanks for the input, everyone.
I just spoke to my Dad, who said "not to bother" with the salad. lol. Pasta, I can make the rolls up quite quickly in the morning and also peel and slice the pots and just keep them in cold water until it's time to put them in the oven.
Plenty of time to do housework and get me and the kids ready! :-) I just think there's so much more that goes with a roast. I don't know, I just get all hot a flustered.
Murraymints... of course! I'll do an extra tray of roasties :-)
Rowan, yeah I was wondering about alcohol. Tesco are doing 3 for £20 on their beer, lagers and ciders, so I've mixed it up a bit.
Box, the cabbage sounds like a great idea. Thank you :-)
Funny,flip...when I cooked for my family, roast dinners always seemed more of a bother than making a curry from scratch....don't know why though ;-)
Question Author
Ohh, curry would have been a good idea! :-)
I would've done a home made curry with home made onion bhajis too. But just to make it interesting, i would've asked each family to bring their own home made curry so you could all share different tastes.

Done this several times at home with lots of mates and it's been awesome.
While you have the oven on for the roasties, why not make a Mince Lattice Tart? So much easire than your own pies! Just roll out your own, or shop bought pastry, spread the mince along the centre, slice in an arrow (fins or wings( /MINCE\ ) ) formation either side of the mince to form the lattice work, egg it, fold over alternate pieces and tuck both ends in, milk (or egg, or both!) the top, pop in the oven until beautifully golden. Slice up in to individual portions when cool and leave it on the table beside a nice jug of cream, yum yum!
