I've been given a gift voucher for afternoon tea and champagne at the Wolseley in London. Has anyone been before and do you know how dressed up you need to be? Or how dressed down you can be before they won't let you in, ha ha?!!

Yep. It's smart, but not poncy.
Unless you're there on business, most of the blokes don't wear ties. Jacket and open neck shirts are de rigeur.
Girls ... I wore a dress, but not a really fancy one. You could, for instance, wear smart (not scruffy) jeans with a posh top.
But feel comfy in what you put on, and have a fab time. Remember, don't feel intimidated by smart restaurants - the staff want to send you away feeling that you enjoyed the meal, and at The Wolsey they do it very well.
Give yourself enough time to wander round and look at all the historical bits on the wall (best to do it when you go to the loo!)
Enjoy it. It's fab !!

Ha ... typos in my post.
It is, as you say, called the "Wolseley" (being situated in the original Wolseley car showroom).
"Wolsey" made underwear for old people :-))
