any recommendations for a place to eat, price range approx £10-15 for a main course, maximum.

There is a Loch Fyne on Trumpington Street which is very nice.

Browns on Trumpington Street is also nice as is Fitzbillies www.fitzbillies.co.uk which is a one-off rather than a chain. I'd go for Fitzbillies but my son prefers Browns.
