We went to a pizzeria restaurant, decided on boring fish and chips. Told fryer wasn't working so no chips. Only mash. I decided to have carbonara, waitress gave a spiel about an egg. When it came there in the middle was a raw egg yolk. No way could I eat that. Waitress laughed when. She saw it was. Left on my plate. I told her (je ne compare pas) she laughed at me. We had a discussion on the word for uncooked, I told her raw. She was pleased to add a new word to her vocabulary. Who on earth would eat a raw egg yolk with a meal?

That's just as bad Mamya, i like my meat reasonably well done.
Carbonara uses raw eggs. It cooks in the heat of the pasta so maybe they thought you'd mix the egg in yourself.

Ok ummm, that explains it, I thought it would co e cooked.
I've never seen an egg yolk left whole though. Did they add cream or was it traditional carbonara with no cream?
Weird. Seems like the egg is supposed to be whipped into the sauce not dumped on top. https://en.m.wikibooks.org/wiki/Cookbook:Spaghetti_alla_Carbonara
have had that raw egg thing too Caran..in the interior wilds of Spain...DIY whip in job , egg cooks on heat from Pasta...
