I have a commerative bottle of red wine I bought at the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem in 1994. It has been stored in good conditions and has its original illustrated carrier.

I can supply all the details but the labels carry Airborne insignia, dates etc as well as the usual wine details.

Do you think it might be saleable ? If so, where ? Ebay won't allow it.

You can sell it on eBay if you list it as ' Souvenir of The Battle of Arnhem ' rather than a bottle of wine. There are a lot bottles of wine on ebay but listed as souvenirs or memorabilia.

I've had a look, Eddie, and can't find any.

eBay can be odd. I once had for sale a 'Doctor Blade' which is a device to spread a very thin film of ink evenly over a sheet of paper. They would not let me sell it , it was rejected as being a 'weapon' . In the end I called it an 'ink film applicator' and there was no problem.

Thanks, Baldrick. There's only one filled bottle there, but your point is made.

Eddie, Yes, indeed. There are at least two lots in the ' Food and Drink' category including a ' Commerorative' wine for Eurotunnel. I just don't understand it, but having received a warning from ebay I'm reluctand to try again. As for your experience with the ' Doctor Blade' I think their system picks up key words, ie ' Blade'. Thanks again.

I've discovered that under ebay regulations in order to sell alcohol you have to be an approved licenced seller (alcohol Licence) and have strict age verification procedures etc.

So I still have this very rare bottle of wine commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem I bought in that city during the 1994 Pilgrimage. I could drink it but I would like it to go to a collector.
Have you actually tried to list it as memorabilia or a souvenir?
That is where it is going to sell, not to a wine lover, to a collector of battlefield memorabilia. Try it eBay can only say 'no' and remove it.
Even better idea, drink it and then sell the empty bottle & carrier as memorabilia !
eBay can't object to that!

Thanks again, Eddie.

Yes, I've tried to sell it as a commemorative item but ebay has withdrawn it and given me a stern warning ! There is no other way of listing it anywhere without mentioning the word 'wine' and that is swiftly picked up by ebay.

I am seriously considering your second suggestion and with the festive season nearky upon us you may see one more empty bottle up for sale in the New Year !

Happy Christmas.

If I were you I would phone someone like Bonhams and ask their advice
List it just as 'Battle of Arnhem Commemorative Bottle'
Do not use the word 'wine' at all. Anyone interested will see what it is from the photo.
For all eBay know you have refilled it with Blackcurrant cordial
