A stunning gin is Sipsmiths, almost an XO Cognac equivalentin the Gin world. So smooth you can drink it neat but its really great on the rocks, nothing in it except a twist of lime......

Sloe gin is gorgeous. Drink it anytime but especially on a cold winter's day. It is a mix of sugar, gin and sloe berries.

I've never known anyone to use a mixer with sloe gin. |

Sloes grow on the hawthorn and can be picked in the hedgerows for free. Make with the cheapest gin (Aldi's) .

It is a lot different, I'm not keen on gin, but do love sloe gin and damson gin.

I can't drink gin either. Went to the Bols museum in Amsterdam and that tasted a bit like gin (genevers or something which is similar). After a few taster shots I wasn't so bothered.

Sloes grow on blackthorn, not hawthorn. They look like small purple plums. Here's a recipe but you won't get any sloes 'til next autumn.
