In the last week, I have met a lad aged about 12, who was very polite when I stopped to ask for directions and his name was TC !

And yesterday, I met a single Mum who was called KC. I thought I had misheard heard and asked her was it spelt Casey or Kacey, but no...it was just KC !

What on earth were the parents thinking about ?

It wasn't him from KC and The Sunshine Band was it
At least it wasn't KFC.
Were these people Welsh?
Maybe ... That's the Way ( they like it) ??
why would you ask someones name when asking for directions?
Maybe they will all join AC/DC.
My best friends have called me CJ for the past half century, so it doesn't seem particularly odd to me!

Kids have been bestowed with unusual names for donkey's years. Both Queen Victoria and I can confirm this.
Possibly aristocratic, Mikey ................. and pronounced - "Smith" ;o)
Bloody hell ... EcclesCake is your real name?
Right Chris is CJ from now on
I work in a place where we hear all kinds of ridiculous children's names. The most recent that set me cringing was Autumn, and that is also the name of a wife of a royal, I believe .
I've heard Diamond, Destiny, Turquoise, Tulip. I'm sure there are more.
Isn't CJ that irritating, arrogant bloke from Eggheads?
I quite like Autumn as a name, Clover.
I know many people who've named their kids so they can be abbreviated to CJ, JJ or similar. None of them are called by those letters. Perhaps Mikey's people had the right idea by just naming them by the letters they wanted them to be known by.
I have a teacher friend and she states that most of the children cannot spell their own name!!!! This is because they have been lumbered with some obcure name or weird spelling of their name.
^^^ I've never watched 'Eggheads', Tilly, but the description matches anyway ;-)

It was the spelling of the names that surprised me...just two letters.

Both these kids are going to have to give their names out 1000's of times over their lives...probably more and they are going to be asked the spelling every time. I just think its daft that parents have given their poor kids this burden for the rest of their lives.
Horses get called GG.
I quite like the name Autumn, as well. It's just when you hear it shouted out it makes you wince. It's lucky my son turned out to be a boy because I had lots of daft names for girls when I was pregnant. Turquoise was one. I also had Athena and Minerva, so I'm as (almost) as bad as the people I'm talking about.
