I have just read that the parents of 18 children do not claim child benefit.
How much would they receive per week if they did claim it?

Why don't they?

Im not entirely sure its a benefit you can opt out of.
But to answer your question it's £20.50 a week for an eldest or only child and £13.55 a week for each of their other children.
and how do they do to feed and clothe 18 kids?
If it's the family im thinking of, the husband owns a bakery.
spose there's another one in the oven

Thank you Boo & johnny13 for your prompt reply.
I've no knowledge of the story so forgive me if I suggest that one or other parent earns money.
Child benefit is 'universal' you do not have to claim it, you get it automatically when you register the birth of a child. You can't 'opt out' of getting it. Unless you earn over £50,000 a year after tax.
they own a bakery - not that I can see that would earn enough to feed 20 of them. tht guy in 19 and more in America owns property all over Arkansas and has a finger in every pie - more than the man from the bakery here.
Eddie...you have to claim it.
JJ...obviously he earns enough to feed them. He also takes them all on holiday each year.
In the article i read, it said they get child benefits, but don't claim any extra benefits.
but isn't it sad that he and his wife works so hard and don't claim a dime and yet immirgrants blah blah claim every bloody halfpenny.

I got talking (eventually) to a wee worker in CU she is new - I asked where she worked before - she said in a doctor's surgery - says I Oh I'd love tht - no, surgeries were crucified with the foreigners, also drug and drink, and particularly you wont believe it - the Indian men were the worse as they demand and demand - god no wonder the doctors are leaving.
EDDIE of course folk have to claim Child Benefit before they receive it. There is a claim form in Bounty packs given to many new mothers and unless it's completed and sent off, there'll be no benefit awarded.
Bounty packs or the job centre (here anyway)

You have to nominate the main carer, parents details, NI number, bank account details etc etc.
Regarding the £50,000 mentioned by EDDIE, that is also incorrect. Folk who have a child or children with them for whom Child Benefit is paid will pay a charge of 1% for every £100 above an adjusted net income of £50,000 they or the partner receive per year. That means there can be an adjusted net income of £60,000 before the charge extinguishes the benefit. Folk can elect not to receive the benefit instead of paying a charge.
Type Your Answer Here...As has been said, it seems they do not claim any additional benefits. It does not say they do not receive Child Benefit. The telling thing is that it makes the headlines when somebody does not claim benefits.

Their Child Benefit amounts to £13,044 a year (which is eqivalent to almost £15,000 of pre-tax/NI income). Regardless of the financial aspect the couple are completely irresponsible. Over population is one of the greatest threats to mankind today (far greater than climate change) and to knock out one child a year for almost twenty years is utterly reprehensible.
also factor in how much each child realistically cost the state.

Starting from day zero, each birth has a cost. Each doctor and dentist visit has a cost not to mention educating each one of them.

Im not saying they're doing wrong, but for anyone to claim that their child isn't state funded to some extent(myself included) is deluded.
Love the 'knock out a child' NJ.............really easy eh?
Oh Craft, don't set me off - I disapproved of 'preggo' and 'drop' the other day in the same context (childbirth) and was roundly put in my place.
