I see they're all sold out now.
We bought one a number of weeks ago and are looking forward to receiving it at some point. I'm just wondering where and how I'm going to display it though, they're quite tall and I would imagine the flower head is quite heavy.
If you've bought one, how are you going to display it?
hadn't thought about it. I suspect I will keep it packed away in its box for most of the time. If they have sold them all, another issue arises though, In the original blurb they say if your poppy arrives broken, they will replace it!
It's only just struck me too Woofy, didn't cross my mind when I bought it. Ideally I'd like to have it out so it can be seen rather than tucked away in its box, maybe in some kind of long thin vase or something. Hmmm, will have to give it some thought, it'll be interesting to hear what others are going to do.
Apparently they come in several different heights in the moat,so we'll just have to wait for them arriving before deciding on the best way to display them.
Really Paddy? Where have you seen that?
I dont think it really matters where they end up SJ, at least they had to be bought from the British legion originally and that's where the money's gone.
Prudie....just noticed on the website.....they are saying if any more poppies become available they will announce it there....so may be worth keeping an eye out for that....no reason why they can't make more as they have been so popular......x
Tony.Trish and I were their in mid September and even then the place was crowded with people 5-6 deep around the railings.I would imagine it was about two thirds complete and it was an really amazing sight and very emotive.
I don't know about making more...I think they originally said they wouldn't, but also surely part of the point is having one that was actually a part of the installation?
The only thing I've seen about the number of poppies was that they would repair any that damaged either on site in the moat or in transit to the purchaser the whole point being that there was just the 888,246 that were actually part of the installation
I'm wondering if they will fade in the sunshine .... I was hoping to put mine in a flowerbed, but now I read on a previous post we are only getting the poppy head? Where did you read that - I hope not!
Looking forward to receiving mine, my Grandad was in the WW1 trenches and survived, bless him. xx
ToinyAV, I think that's wrong, the station was just closed for "planned engineering works" and both lines are shut for the weekend in that part of town. But I think that was just boneheaded planning by TfL, failing to realise people might want to take their kids there during a half term weekend. I was at Aldgate station today (going somewhere else) and it was heaving; it's the nearest one to Tower Hill and was obviously getting the overflow.
