I excelled myself today.

As I was getting the kids into the car to go to the dentist this afternoon, I delicately placed my purse and mobile phone on the roof of the car...

Luckily, our road is about half a mile long before you hit the public road. And we have a speed bump and some delightful potholes.

My MIL found said purse and phone about halfway along it as she was coming home.

What a numpty. (Me, not my MIL.)

Good job you didn't put the children on the roof!
You were luck, we had a car chase with a lady who had done the same thing.
She finally stopped and was astounded to be handed her purse.

I am tempted at times, tilly!

I don't usually put stuff on the roof, I usually shove it all on the front seat. No idea what I was thinking!

My phone screen is smashed, but still readable. Phone itself works fine. I got off pretty lightly.

That'll teach me!
My son did exactly the same thing the other week.

How long before the woman realised you were trying to catch her, sibbs?
A friend of mine did that with £600 stuffed in an envelope to take to the bank (couple of days takings), put it on the car roof to get kids in the car, fasten baby seat etc etc, and drove off. She wasn't so lucky as you 2sp:-(
I once drove away from my house in Holland with my briefcase on the roof of the car. Mucho flashing of lights and about 400 metres or so and it was still up there.

I'm glad I'm not alone, ummmm!

That's terrible, horseshoes. She must have been gutted.

I love the idea of you having a briefcase DTC, no idea why.
About 5 miles out of our way but she put a thank you to the anonymous hijackers in the local paper!
Whenever I lose things, they tend to find their way back to me. I'm always putting things down. fortunately my work colleagues know me so well, that anything left lying around they pick up and bring to me to check if it is mine.
I was hands on at work one day when I realised my mobile had gone missing. A van driver was out on his deliveries and heard a phone ringing. He found it in the chiller section of the van, realising it must be mine, he returned it.
A while ago, I could not find my mobile phone anywhere. So I decided to phone it. It showed an engaged tone. I was only trying to phone my mobile from my mobile!

I like that, sibbs!

My dental surgery were lovely when I arrived in a flap. Let me borrow their phone to call Mr P to get him to go look (apparently he was in a ditch at the time and was no use.), and another patient (who has children at the same nursery as my oldest) offered to watch my kids while I retraced my steps.

And they let me off paying until next time.
a brown leather Coach one, I guess it thought it was being bussed around.

Love it AlwaysConfused!!

Mr P is usually the one to lose stuff around here. He dropped his last mobile in a field he was ploughing. We're hoping it may appear the next time it's plouged.
....I was only trying to phone my mobile from my mobile! //

lol- so let me get this straight - you 'lost' your mobile phone and then had the bright idea of phoning it - but you were using said mobile phone to phone said mobile phone ?

Hence the name, Bazile........sorry AC, jokes at your expense.
yes. At times I have used the landline to phone my mobile in order to locate it. Once mobile is found, I notice I have a missed call! I quickly check the number of the call, only to realise it was me, phoning my mobile. Yeah, I feel a wee bit silly when I realise!
Went to a farm 'Halloween' about 50 miles from Houston, set up for the kids, included a bbq, fireworks and even night cart rides through the maize fields...half around, girl screams. "Help, I've just dropped my cell phone off the back."

Then reality hits, 'OMG my address book is on there, my music list and this, that and the kitchen sink.'

"What happened to just calling on it?"

Some kind soul intervenes,

"Well, why don't you come around again, get dropped off and look for it, call the phone, listen and there we are. If you are scared of the dark, then you'll have to come out tomorrow and do it."

"I've taken the battery out. I've got that here."

Doh.
In future don't go the dentist on a Tuesday.
Some years ago my son took me to get a take away .
I put the bag of food on the roof as I messed around with my handbag etc ...and we drove off .Lol.
