Seeing my Son for the firsty time in 15 months

I am going to see my son who is nearly 3 for the first time in 15 months. I have seen him a few times on skype but thats it. My partner has not seen him for the same time either. He is coming to live with us now and I am very excited however he does not speak any English and I do not speak any Portugese (my wife does). Has anyone got any advice on how to communicate with him?

Smiles don't need translation.... also try to learn the portuguese from him at first sharing the english words with him so he takes the lead he will pick up english really fast at that age but trying to change him too quickly ould be a change too many in the early days

Well my wife is Portugese so thats a nice transition I guess. Although they can talk behind my back!

is your wife your partner that you live with ??? if so she can help with the lingo..or are you with someone new who does not speak lingo ?

Start learning crash course and fast!!!! Stick post it notes in both languages on items around the home to help u both learn!!!

Learn some simple sign language (of the Mr Tumble variety), any simple words you need can be found on the British sign language website (there are little videos to show how to do the signs, rather than diagrams).

Ps - bit confused, thought you already had a three year old son (who you were considering moving to France with and could have had in your dangerous car). Do you have two different three year old sons?
