What Would You Do At 4.am?

As I take quite a lot of medication (9 pills a day in total) I suffer from Insomnia,it does seem to be one or more of the pills. .It doesn't both me too much (I am retired and can sleep when I want)However,I do get bored.TV(especially night/morning) is boring despite having nearly 100 channels.There is only so many times I can go through AB posts(sorry)Does anyone have any ideas to pass the wee small hours.BTW,I can't stop my medication to enable me to sleep in a better pattern.

Come on here, not that there is much happening. My problem is that I tend to get pished in the afternoon so go to bed early, only to wake up in the small hours bright as a button.
Reading, embroidery, knitting, cleaning kitchen cupboards out .. :( painting (walls), DVD/box set, jigsaw....
Maybe in the lighter mornings is a walk an option .I be up at all hours but find a walk helps and if I feel tired after I can go back for an hour or two and find the world has not got up yet .
A good time to read a book, do odd jobs, in nice weather go for a wee walk, do the washing, housework, plenty to do OB. :o}
I have been playing Scrabble against the computer on my Tablet.

I have to admit that some of my medication has nasty side effects.

My cats are in their beds snoring for Scotland.

If you like reading an ebook is a good idea. With the right sort (Kobo, Kindle Fire series) you can get library books on them at any time of day or night. We have joined several libraries (some let you join even if you don't live locally) so you have a decent choice of books; not such a big choice as paper books but no problems getting to the library to borrow or return them.
I do online jigsaw puzzles till I drop off. Jigidi is the best one and it's free.
read ? clean out cupboards ? write letters ? come here as there will always be someone awake to chat a bit
I'm a terrible insomniac. I get up and put washing machine on, load dishwasher, read books on iPad, feed cat, watch TV, sit in garden if not too cold, listen to music videos on YouTube.... read recipes in cookery books...,,

I have suffered from Insomnia, on and off, for years, and I have learned a few things.

One drink in the evening is very nice but it just disturbs sleep in the long run. I am no angel where it comes to having a drink, but people who have a Dry January report that they sleep much better, after a few days.

I have also found out that if I go to bed too early, then although I go to sleep pretty quickly, I am awake again after midnight !

Last night was I stayed up too watch The Moorside, and didn't get into bed until about 23:00, but slept right through until 07:00 this morning.
Try a milky drink last thing at night. Ovaltine works for me !
Luckily doesn't happen often but I'm really into things like freecell, spider solitaire, mahjong titans, candy crush etc. That makes the time go in the middle of the night. I'd also often have a cigarette in the garden but that's not advisable or good for you!
I've got heaps of DVDs I'm gradually watching. Any of those, or any books you've always wanted to read? (Just concentrating on text makes me feel dozy.)
Having the radio on really low helps me. R5 live is pretty good through the night - its not all sport. I find I will start to listen and maybe the effort of trying to hear it sends me off to sleep TV isn't a good idea - I think its something to do with the light and I too find if I've concentrated on a drama before I go to bed my brain is all buzzy.
