I am looking at an Olixar 2 in 1 micro USB & Lightning cable key ring for grandchildren. To recharge phones and tablets.
I don't understand how they work. Do they not need an electricity supply or are they totally independent? Do they need to be charged?
I'm not very tech minded so some help would be appreciated.
I know this should be in technology but thought I'd get a better response in CB.

It's just a lead - you need to plug it in to a wall charger or portable power bank/battery.

Looks like one end connects to USBsocket on PC,other end connects to whatever you want to charge.

Baldric are you saying you really charge it by connecting to your computer.
Can it be done by connecting to a laptop or tablet that is not connected to any power supply?
To repeat - it is only a lead - you don't 'charge it' at all.

It simply conducts electricity from any source of usb power - which may be a wall charger, or a portable battery, or indeed a laptop. The laptop need not be plugged in itself, but will flatten it's own battery as it charges the phone or tablet.
