I'm contemplating having one of my ears pierced again, further up, I don't know what that bit's called.
I saw Hermoine Norris in that programme about all those pregnant ladies and she had two small diamond studs in one ear, one in the lobe and one higher up, and thought it looked really nice.
I'm not over keen on multiple piercings in the lobe..each to their own, obviously...but the way Hermoine had these two piercings really appealed.
What do you think? I'm early 60s.

Surely it's your choice and what you yourself want / like

Yes of course baz, I know that, but I'm interested in other opinions.
I had exactly that done in my late 40s, I've never regretted it but just have a very small stud. I don't regret it all - it didn't half hurt mind you! Go for it.
It sounds like a mid-life crisis to me. You're on a slippery slope and you'll soon be enquiring about tramp stamps...........

My only concern about piercings higher up the ear is how prominent the butterflies may be, otherwise I think a small stud looks quite nice.
Sounds good to me, why the hell not! the different types are named here http://www.piercingtime.com/images/107/chart-for-ear-piercing-with-names.jpg
Hell! You only live once!!!

Good grief ratters, who knew one small ear had so many different bits to it!
Prudie, do you wear an earring in that bit all the time? Do you match it to one in the lobe or mix and match?
Eccles, I'm faaaar too old for a mid life crisis! Mind, a toy boy wouldn't go amiss....oh, hang on, I already have one ;)
I wear the same one all the time, just a small diamond stud and rarely take it out. No don't match it with my normal earrings at all, that's mid-life crisis for you :-)
I had a second piercing done in my lobes many years ago. I worked with a young woman who had several piercings in each, and it looked great. Only, I was to be profoundly disappointed that I just could not get an earring in due to the angle it was at. I've no idea why. I'd do it again...as so should you. Your ears...decorate yourself any way you want to.
I am quite happy with my pair of standard lobe piercings!!!
The rest looks very painful!!!
I think it is called the helix or anti helix
Don't wish to be gross but my daughters friend got a stud put in the helix, don't know why but the skin started to grow over it ! and she had to get it removed. My thoughts are she did not move it enough. Just thought I would mention it . A couple of years ago I wanted a tiny stud in my nose :) my daughter said she would not speak to me again if I did that lol
like the idea but did not like Hermione Norris's at all. I pierced my own second holes in the 70s and never had any trouble with them. The ones i had done in a shop caused no end of bother.

Ooh, I couldn't get my nose pierced, all that snot, yuk. Plus I don't think it looks particularly nice personally, or multiple lobe piercings.
Still pondering...
My opinion is that any body piercing is weird. Earrings seem less so simply because it's been going on for so long that we grow up used to it.
