Working Tax Credits Information

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but I am currently on maternity leave at the moment after having my second child. Our WTC has increased with the new addition and is literally double now.

Anyway, I am due back to work within the next 5 months but will only be returning back for 3-4 months when my job ends! Myself and my husband are named on the WTC claim, with me as the main contact/claimant. If I do not find work straight away are we still entitled to WTC with my husband being the only one who works (self employed). I only ask as a friend of mine has just put doubt in my head!

Cheers

yes, providing one of you works 24 hours per week, you will!

but if you are at home you won't be able to claim childcare allowance (obviously), which is a shame as you would ideally need to keep the place at the nursery open ready!

my advice would be to keep the feds fully aware of your household earnings to avoid overpayments!

Hi Cath

Yes I do still need to pay to keep the place open for my little one ... my eldest will be in full time school this Sept and one was taking the others place re childcare.

I recd around £400 per month for both children now, do you think this would increase significantly? I think its the worry of the bills that is worrying me most.
the working tax credit per se will increase/change dep on your your husbands profit!

have you been on 'do i qualify' and put in the correct figures for then?

you can't claim the chidcare portion after you come out of work, but i think they may give you a grace period, like 4 weeks! best thing is to phone them!
