I'd love to leave the UK and live in Spain. My brother was 'reeled in like a fish on a hook' as you say 10 years ago and loves it more everyday!

O ditto sandra -we were reeled in 3yrs ago and now have a fab life across there -have made life long friends -Spanish as well as other fools-and have the best of both worlds.
Our home is a home from home -we walk in and its like we havent been away -were across there 8 times last yr -some just weekend breaks -and twice this yr already.
2 minute drive for the Mar Menor -one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Man I feel such fool for being such a sucker -wish I hadnt fallen for it -d'oh !!!

People leave Britain and set up abroad the first thing alot them do is bad mouth home.
What they forget is that everything they've bought is bought with British money, Britain made them. The locals don't have that kind of money that's why everything is cheaper (especially property).
The funny thing is that they all say how great it is wherever they are until they get sick......... and then it's straight back home.
I've planned to retire abroad for a long time (for the weather) but I may bring it forward and leave to go to my future wife's country.
The only thing I hate about Britain is how violent it's become.
Read the tone of some of the posts on here and that gives you an idea of the mentality that's starting to prevail in this country.

Woah there everton -we worked and still do -damned hard in Britain -pid all out taxes and saved blo00dy hard and now we cant reap the benefits? That what youre saying?
The tone of some of the posts were diretly because of the context of the thread if yoi have read it properly.
I take exception to people thinking that anyone who works hard to achieve a wee dream for their retirement havent given to their country -we have in abundance and neither of us have ever claimed.
Gonna stop now cos I really dont know what youre getting at really -or shanx for that matter so i shall come down off my high horse ATM -it just annoys me that that people think that foreign property falls into your lap -we spent every penny we had to secure our house/dream.

Shanx - it seems the playful tone of your original posting has completely passed over the heads of some................:o)

There is a real crisis in foreign (especially Spanish) apartment/villa ownership on its way..........The hard-sell and less than honest marketing coupled with unfamiliar laws and legal procedures will prove a lesson hard learnt..............
