share transfer

how do I transfer shares from my name to a family member, and how long dose this take to become legal.
my company is about to be sold and I have shares that go over the tax limit.

Hi 1delboy,I am in the same situation,would they be brewery shares you are selling?Anyway,have you heard of loan notes,not sure myself but I think you have these and spread the sale over 2 tax years so as to use up 2 lots of CGT.
