Should Europe have listened to Gaddafi when he said that unless "Christian, white" countries gave him extra funding Europe would be flooded with illegal immigrants leaving impoverished Africa?

"We should stop this illegal immigration. If we don't, Europe will become black, it will be overcome by people with different religions, it will change," he said.

i note that one of the points will call for a "resettlement project"; just wondered what criteria will be used for individuals to qualify.......
Sorry Naomi, I did not mean to high-jack your thread, by posting also on the European leaders summit.

Why is this just a European problem, why can't the rest of Africa take these immigrants?

Where is the UN in all this?
The UN is part of the problem. Personally, I wouldn't want them anywhere near this.

AOG, no problem - but why would they want to go to countries where life is just as poor?

Oh I thought we were being constantly told that they were not economic refugees, but political refugees who were escaping war zones?
Yes we should certainly have listened to Colonel Gaddafi when he asked for more money to help him in his touching concern for humanity.
Perhaps we could have housed them in the extra palaces he'd have built with it.
Alternatively, David Cameron and Francois Hollande could have backed up their promises not to abandon the the Libyan people

Why is the EU involved in this? Last I saw the migrants were being trafficked to Italy and beyond: those are EU states aren't they?

Why not IS too?
Or are IS to tough for for the EU?
AOG you asked why Europe is involved in this and why cannot Africa take these immigrants? So that was why I pointed out that the problem is immigrants coming uninvited to EU countries.
Who caused all of it? Why were these people not coming towards Europe before we decided that Libyans needed our help to gain liberty from Qaddafi?
