Hi there

I have a Natwest bank account. Standard one. Tomorrow I have a direct debit going out for my energy bill. I also have a bacs payment clearing, in order to pay it.

Does anyone know if I can rest assured this will be okay - i.e. does the credit hit the account first? Both are scheduled for Wed 10 December.

Any ideas appreciated!

You should ring and ask them

This used to count as overdrawn - if the outgoing was done before the credit and attracted howls of dismay and dissatisfaction

my ownn bank therefore (RBS) has stated that so long you are in credit by 1600 they wonnt charge...

from experience I dont shave as closely as this nowadays...

As long as the credit is definitely due in tomorrow using BACs it will be cleared funds and the direct debit will automatically be paid without human intervention.
BACS will go in first thing in the morning, if there is not enough to pay the DD you have until 3.30 pm to put money into the account. This is new though the banks used to say cash for the DD had to be in by close of business the previous day.
I bank with Lloyds, My bacs pension payment goes in overnight and my DD's seem to go out mid morning.
