thanks

I'm looking more from the point of how one can find out what has been paid by an individual , what years are missing and what they would need to pay to make up for those missing years contributions , in order to bring themselves up to current present requirements .

i.e the person is not sure of what they have paid and for what years ( if you see what i mean )

You cannot do that online, baz. All you can get is an estimate of your expected pension payments as hc has provided.

If you want to know what contributions are short and what needs to be done to make them up you need to contact the pensions office.

Ask for pension forecast !
If the lady won't have any other income (such a private pension) after reaching the state pension age there's probably no point in her seeking to top up her state pension.

Irrespective of whether she gets the full pension of £110.15 per week (at current figures), or a much lower figure, her actual income will be lifted up to a minimum of £145.40 per week anyway through Pension Credit:

I have found the Pensions people extremely helpful, when you contact them - give it a go, you'll need your National Insurance number to hand.
