why would a bank withraw their BACS payment facility?

I have ano idea - it's a fundamental part of banking - which bank is it?

They probably just want you to use CHAPS. It's quicker but they will charge you around £30 for the speed, which you may not need.

I assume this is related to jkz's recent query about a possible change to the date of salary payments.
