Christmas Nutroast

I don't usually buy pre-made food of any description, but we have a vegetarian at our table for Christmas lunch so I'm thinking of buying a good nutroast for her to replace the meat and to go with all the usual trimmings. Waitrose? Marks & Spencer? Where will I get the very best?

Or if anyone has a brilliant recipe for nutroast, that along with any other ideas, would be appreciated too.

Tilly, yes, she does eat fish - but that won't go with the rest of the traditional Christmas lunch - including gravy.

237SJ, she eats everything apart from meat.

Tofu? it can be coloured with browning (sarsons) and absorbs flavors easily.

M&S parsnip Camembert and chestnut pithivier looks good or roasted butternut,almond and pecan roast. They also do a mushroom Wellington.

Why not make several dishes suitable for both your veggie friend and the rest of your guests. I always think a nut roast sounds a bit safe.

Although not really a nut roast, if you put 'spinach strudel' into the AB search box you will find the recipe and independent feedback.

Have to say the M&Spithivier does sound tasty though.

I eat this one fairly often and recommend it as a ready made option. You just add water and bake for about 40 minutes. Its a festive version too with the cranberries. Can be bought in independent stores, Holland and Barret or here online.

It feeds three so plenty for others to have a taste if they are curious.

Morning Elina, I haven't quite decided but the M&S Mushroom Wellington looks good and would save me messing around making something special.
