can't see why not after all if you have a joint account you have 1 each and who says a joint account is only 2 people

Why do you need three? It is usually a very strict term of the banks that the customer never divulges the PIN to anyone.
No harm in calling Santander and asking them.

One for me
One for the son and heir
One for lackland son

I have given you BA Paul but in retrospect I wish I hadn't as you have not really answered the question. Enjoy it whilst it last 'cause if I get a better answer I shall oust you
so long as you make it clear you underwrite the losses on the account ( erm i dont suppose lackland son will be contributing much ) I dont see why not. They may specify a triple joint account ( as that is what it is )

strikes me as being a bit oo-er - giving a card to the sons
but thatas you may comment is not the q
No. A Bank will only issue an ATM card to a named holder of a joint account. Even someone holding a third party mandate does not qualify to have a card.

I will give my usual caveat, I have been retired for a few years now.
They may draw the line at three in the name of John Smith as that would allow two sons to er impersonate you - actually not a problem so long as you pay, but I can imagine a zillion bank clerks commenting " the computer says no "
named persons CAN get a card for the same account with their name thereon..see my link
That link refers to Credit Cards MM, completely different. You can add additional cardholders to Credit Card Agreements, you will be liable for all debt they run up.
there is a mention of additional cards on current account but the link will not work..

I have searched everywhere on my Santander account online and cannot find any option to add another debit card to my account.

Let me add this is just for access to cash
There is NO WAY I would get a credit card in multiple names.
Even I'm not that daft
Have you contacted Santander? I can't see any bank allowing it.
