Arrived at ferry to come home, asked could we get an earlier one, lady says what do you mean, you are very late. I said but we are 1.5 hours early. No she said, you should have come yesterday! You couldn't make it up with our holidays. Lady says that will cost €60, but because we haven't many on board I'll let you off! Wasn't that nice of her?
That's not all though.
When we eventually got home at 7.30 pm tonight I went to put all our goodies away from the supermarket and discovered the fridge and freezer was off. The electric had tripped. Don't know how long it was off for but everything was defrosted. I have made a list in case I can claim, it's over £100 plus a big bag of assorted things I've made or frozen. Fridge was mouldy so had to clean everything.
To add insult to injury the tv recorder didn't record anything after 19/5 so Corrie not taped as well as other things.
Remember I told you about my bargain €1 spit roast chicken, well it wasn't when I looked at receipt on the way home it was €1 off so I paid €6.50.
Daughter says we are a liability and doesn't want us to go away again, just in case she says.
But I did win £25 premium bonds, and a baking set from some company I think it was a competition. In either Candis or yours magazine, so there is a bit of light at the end.
So glad to be home, holidays as knackering!!

The 'b888888d-up freezer' happened to me as well after a holiday! Stinks, doesn't it - much sympathy. Are holidays in France worth it?
But we are glad you are home safe and sound Caran! x
Ah well at least you didn't get nicked for speeding on your way home ( did you ) Caran.
Caran glad your home safely, recently you are becoming a very close second to Gness !
Similar thing happened to me & my pal Mgs we arrived back at Gatwick and we use a local minibus called the Gatwick Express which takes you home right to your doorstep, I apologised to the driver as we had missed the one we booked for and waited for the next, don't apologise for being late he said you have plenty of time you are booked for tomorrow !
Blimey they read the ticket

in a fantastic student tour of Europe ( 1973 ) we landed up at the car ferry three weeks early as we had er run out of money - and they waved us on !
Ticket was end of Sep and we travelled on 4th.

The French weren't doing themselves a favour per chance? :-)
Retro....I asked at reception about the weather here. They said chances are it will be really warm but you can't really be sure until about 8-9 o/clock on the day. We've had 12 days here and only two of them have been dull. I'm really Brown and haven't sun bathed once. Lovely country. I'll def come back.
Thanks for your time ummm. I have always loved Malta. So much history. Been there about 8 times. I always go to the Air museum and the near by craft village at Tah 'Hilli. Marsasloxx market is a must on Sundays.
Had to cancel last years Malta holiday due to cancer op.I have been left with some skin rashes as a result of the chemo so I was hoping to do plenty of sea swimming and catch the rays to help clear the condition. I sadly note that two British holiday makers drowned in the Sea a couple of days ago.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your stay. Have a Cisk,or a glass of Marsovin or even a kinnie for me.
Thank you again.I hope it stays warm or even hot. Trouble is the water supplies run out and the water becomes quite brackish when de salienated.
:-)
Yeah....heard about the holiday drownings. Very sad. No one should holiday at the same time as me. Went to Thailand and someone drowned, went to Egypt and two divers drowned, went to Cyprus and a young girl was killed by a jet ski....

Went to the Sunday market and had the best fish I've ever tasted. I've been living on fish and salad since we got here

Good luck with your recovery. I know sun is not recommended but it does do wonders for the soul. Sun, sea, good food, and the added extras ;-)
Thanks ummmm
I always have a fish meal behind the market in Marsasloxx once I have found a place to park. :-)
At least you got home safely Caran, and with some stories to tell.

We went on holiday to France with my parents, in the early eighties. My Mother saw I had left something plugged in, and kindly unplugged it. I didn't realise, it was my fridge-freezer. Two weeks later a nasty smell in the kitchen, and a good clean out needed.
