The other day I was asking about the NS&I account closing and you recommended a Post Office savings account.

I have just been to the little local post office and guess what - they didn't know what I was talking about!!! They still have the literature on the wall advertising the very same account which is closing! I asked the man if he could give me a form to open the acount you told me about, which I like the sound of, and he just looked blank. I shall have to go to the main post office I think, and ask there. It just made me laugh!!! Talk about living in the wilds!

I go on a Post Office website and there are always Post Office staff on there moaning about Post Offices like the one you went in. These are the ones that make the rest of us look bad. Grrr. Still, at least you could see the funny side. I work in a village Post Office, and if we know about these things then all other Post Offices should. I think I said in my original answer that I had closed my own NS and I account and opened a Post Office Reward Saver account (I'm saving for a holiday in either Canada or the States, so I don't want easy access - I'd only dip in!), so I can assure you that both that account and the Easy Access savings accounts do exist! I hope you get sorted soon.

Thanks again Spudqueen. I'll go to the main branch on Monday and see what they say there. I'd really lik to stay with the PO rather than put it in my regular bank account. I may have to start stuffing the mattress!!! I'll come back and let you know how I get on:-)))
