The Budget

A MASTER stroke by Alastair Darling?

Giving the impression that he cares about the environment Darling has demanded that plastic carrier bags must now be charged for!
The supermarkets, etc, who have accounted for the price of BILLIONS of carrier bags and included the cost in item prices, for which we pay the tax, will now have to charge us again and even more tax will make it's way to Darling's coffers!
If that's not a 'double whammy' ,I don't know what is.
I wouldn't play cards with the guy - not even snap!

erm, no not really. The idea is that you re-use your plastic bags. If your daft enough to forget to take them then think of it as an 'Idiot' tax if you like.

Your “environmentally friendly” big 4 supermarket companies are jumping for joy at the huge profit boost handed to them by their Darling friend. I wonder just how much additional profit they will make from an extra 5p on the millions of bags they churn out?
Supporting the environment?...Don’t make me laugh!
