Onwards and Downwards Continues in April 2014

Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Continuing with the seasonal food theme, and also skillfully avoiding the whole how to make Easter boring with no chocolate :-), in April we should be eating these sorts of things:

It seems now is a good time for seafood like crab, cockles and sardines.

Here is something which looks lovely:

Has anyone got any other ideas for April's seasonal food?

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

I thought it was xstitcher :-)

Thanks ed . Now we just got to be good .
It was both OG and myself Ed. OG started it and I just followed along.
Good morning All,
I can hardly believe it. I'm down two pounds again and have gone down one size on my tops. It really is happening. Hope to hear happy things from the rest of you.
Morning Xstitcher one of my stay the same weeks but I really felt I had lost this week so probably lost inches . Might lead to a nice surprise for next week but I am going out for dinner Tomorrow evening and I will be good by cutting out the starter lol.
Apologies but once again I can not say how I've done this week. I've got used to weighing twice and accepting if the readings agree, or if they don't trying a few times to see if the scales settle down and give three consecutive identical readings. This morning I weighed six times, no reading matched another, and which ranged from "thank gawd it's started to admit that sudden step up was a lie" to "you must be taking the mickey there is no way I'm up there".

It has been an interesting week with most days doing ok, but a weekend that was ridiculous. Especially the Sunday where I'm sure my woman isn't deliberately trying to thwart any loss, but one wonders what to make of a 3 course evening meal included a portion of apple crumble that was twice a normal one or three times one for someone dieting. And a discussion as to why I didn't want 150 ml of Elmlea single cream on it.

It's all a bit depressing again at the moment. Generally speaking I've been good, and yet the weight is still staying stable medium term. I get a recent weight loss for a few days then it steps up again, in total defiance of what my intake records would suggest.

Anyway enough of my lack of progress, well done x, and I'm sure it'll work out next week for you wend.
LOL OG don't you think it is time for a new uncomplicated scales that will tell you exact weight without having to multiply and subtract. Now if you eat apple crumble and the cream that would not stop your hand from pouring over it well say no more .
Aye, I know about the scales. Looked many times for a replacement. But never see one I want to go with. Maybe I'm too fussy but ... Unsure I have the enthusiasm to look again yet.
Oh dear; you and your scales OG....you must be a man of extreme patience to put up with your scales temperament lol!
Fingers crossed for you next week week Wendilla...you'll be just fine.

Thanks Xstitcher I think I will need to put a ball and chain on my arm for tomorrow night to stop me eating that eton mess they do there . But I have looked the menu on line and can't see it but I don't think that will stop me from asking lol.
forgot to say well done on your loss XSTITCHER. You are doing well this last few weeks.
I just found out by weight conversion that I am about half a pound short of loosing a stone since Christmas. This is my best weight loss since starting Onwards. There are three significant things I have done since Christmas...I've had smaller portions, no seconds, stopped making homemade soup and I always have some grated carrots in a plastic bowl in the fridge. I tried the supermarkets bags of grated carrots but found them course and bitter. My home grated ones are much better. I eat them with a bit of lo salt and lemon juice.
Well done Xstitcher! :-)
Thanks Marijn. This constant loss makes me so aware of everything I put in my mouth because I want it to keep up.
I did weigh this week, but had no time to post on Wednesday. There was no change for me which was to be expected as I had a disjointed week. A couple of no choice moments when I had to eat a cheese sandwich or nothing grrr. And a couple of genuine weaknesses.

PS congratulations xstitcher, that's a fabulous loss and an inspiration to me. April is going to be my losing month now, I'm determined.
And me MARYJM but I have to get over and work out on the fabulous meal I had last night for Mothers Day .
Wow. It's been over two years since I was a stone heavier. (Sometimes I wish I found raw veg palatable. But not often.)
