How do I start a seperation from my husband?

My husband and I have been having tough time for years, always at weekends, he treats the children and me like crap, and is only happy when away from us. He doesn't want any one disrespecting him, but doesn't respect us in return. I've given him enough chances, and now I want to end the marriage, as it won't work, given i'm the only one trying to make it work. He puts little or no effort in to have good weekends, so I can't keep putting the children through argument filledweekends. How do I start a legal seperation?

Just walk into the solicitors. They will walk you through the process.

Make sure you have your monies sorted out as to accounts before you drop the surprise on him.

By the way they will make it clear in the initial filing about "protection" for you and your children - also suggest that you spend 3 days or so with your parents/relations/friends when you file, just in case there is any anger on his part.

he has always been the same, fine and friendly to every one else, but an absolute nasty person at home. Never violent, and never name calling, but he ignores the children, he interrupts, says sorry, but never does anything to change it. It's like he's apologising so he can smooth it over, but the love isn't there for him to want to work hard at it. Even the thought of losing his family doesn't faze him, he's still ignorant, disrespectful. But also two faced, because he berates those who treat him the same way.
