Terrible weekend,my brother had a heart attack yesterday,he's 43 always been very fit, eats really healthy (unlike the rest of the family) never smoked, just generally looked after himself. Apparently his wife saved his life,he collapsed at home. Its amazing what these doctors can do, this happened at 1.30pm,by 4.30 he had been into surgery was sitting up in bed wondering what the hell had happened and was in total shock as we all were. Still feel really shook up by the whole thing, my baby brother !!!

Thank you Mamy x
wow that sounds awful! but thankfully he is okay!! thank goodness for modern medicine, I would have been a bag of nerves dealing with that.

hope he is back to normal soon x
Question Author
Thanks Cazz for your kind words, he's doing really well, as you say modern medicine, where would we be.
bloom, sounds like you brother got excellent treatment at the right time, i hope he makes a full recovery,
bloomwood - have only just seen this. So glad your brother is ok. Thank goodness for the speed of attention and surgery. I have had similar and it sounds as though your brother's general state of health puts mine to shame. No doubt he will go from strength to strength now. Just remembered the che chap who invented jogging suffered a fatal heart attack. Sounds as though your SIL did play a vital role too. Good luck to you all x

SIL was amazing ttfn, and his state of health puts mine to shame too, honestly can not tell you how much he looks after himself,it just shows you doesn't it, what ever you do, is it ever enough, many thanks for your concern. Thanks Anne treatment he got was first class.
how worrying for you !!! i wish him a speedy recovery :0) x
The strides which the NHS have made over recent years is truly amazing. All of my local hospitals perform heart surgery as a matter of routine. Years ago I had to take my sister from Bournemouth to Hammersmith for angiograms, angioplasty and eventually a triple bypass op.
what a shocker.. your sister-in-law is a star, bless her. you hear people moan about the NHS, but they're pretty good in a crisis.
I wish your brother a speedy recovery x

Our local hospital has a coronary care unit but doesn't perform heart surgery there, luckily we have the Freeman hospital at Newcastle, they bypassed Durham and took him straight there, treatment second to none. Hope your sister recovered well. Thanks zzxxee will pass on your kiss. x
