Throughout the day this dizziness was on and off, sometimes going for hours without feeling this sensation. Today the same again, I almost toppled over at the top of my stairs...I have been topping up with water all day incase its dehydratiion, Im eating ok, dont feel sick yet, other than the dizziness, I feel fine.....any remedies to take to stop this awful feeling please ?

Have you had a cold, or could you have an ear infection? it sounds like vertigo but your inner ear balance could be upset/

Not recently, my health has been fine, other than the asthma I was diagnosed with a few weeks ago now and that has not been bad lately at all....not been drinking alcohol much either....not hungover....sleeping well...
have you checked your gas and do you have a carbon menoxide detector?
You will have to go to the doctors to get something for this. I reckon it is vertigo caused by an infection of your inner ear which upsets your balance as boxtops says. I have had this and the sensation is terrible. It is as if everything is going round while you are still and you have to clutch something to stop it. You will fall easily so the quicker you get something to stop it thebetter. If you fall at the top of the stairs it will be obviously bad.
i had a gas leak once from restaurant kitchens below me and woke up really dizzy, couldnt stand up straight without feeling sick and dizzy

Hmmmm, food for thought 4get, not checked my gas, and don't have a CM detector either, as central heating has been on more than usual...but I do have boiler serviced regularly...perhaps inner ear problem then.....but the feeling is so so weird ! Like being drunk without the alcohol ! ! lol....
If spinning it sounds like vertigo. I feel very sick with mine though and often throw up with it though some of my episodes throw me to the floor.

Could be labyrinthitis. Stay still and don't provoke it if possible.

I take stemetil on prescription for mine (if it is, in fact vertigo) though some travel sickness remedies might help with, I think, meclizine (?) in it, which can help with dizziness and associated nausea, if you have any of those handy until you could get to see a doctor if it continues.

Hopefully sqad is about as it's his area of expertise.
you should always get one just to be safe. Funny thing was i smelt gas in my flat. When gasman came he detected it to restaurant but said as i dont have gas in flat and im wasnt directly above there wouldnt have been a gas smell and nothing was detected in flat. Weird.

Thanks Jenna ! 4get I dont think its CM problem as pets are okay....pets are more suscepatible to it than humans and it affects them faster....phew..
yer probably isnt, but get one. Best not to use your pets as one lol
Could be this...

There have been several posts similar to yours on here.one was just several weeks ago,and described similar symptoms.
How old are you?
Are you on any medication?
Do you get any hearing abnormalities with the dizziness e.g ringing or fullness?
How long does it last?
Does it always come on after certain movements of the head or will it come on at rest?

Until the above questions are answered, then 2 conditions come to mind:

1) Menieres Disease
2) Benign Paroxysmal Positional vertigo

I agree with Jenna....take some travel sickness tablets for immediate relief and monitor the situation for a week or so, but please answer the above questions.
Hi Purple. I had a nasty experience of exactly what you are describing. When I lay on the doctor's couch I actually grabbed the front of his shirt because I thought I was going to roll off it. Anyway, I had some sort of vertigo, got some tablets to cure it and I was as right as rain. That was about 6 years ago and it's never recurred. Good luck.
Hi purple. I had similar a few years ago and was prescribed SERC tablets. The problem went away. Good luck
Yes that's it Janbee - SERC. I remember. They worked for me too
How are you feeling today? Hope it's shifted as I know how miserable it can be.

Serc is good stuff, I'm on that and stemetil for menieres disease and they really do help.

Are you on any medication? No - other than inhaler for mild asthma
Do you get any hearing abnormalities with the dizziness e.g ringing or fullness? None at all
How long does it last? doesn't last long really, but when it happens it is pretty rotten
Does it always come on after certain movements of the head or will it come on at rest? Can come on through movement or rest, the first time it hit me saturday morning I was merely lying down in bed....
Thanks all ! Jenna, Im feeling fine no other symptoms apart from these sudden spells. x

I have taken 1 x phenegren tablet to ease the queasy/dizzy feeling which seems to help...although they make me drowsy........not been sick though, eatng/appetite is fine.
Purple....thanks....it doesnt sound a big deal and my money goes on Benign Paroxysmal Vertigo.....................the answer would be to take Stemetil 5mgms twice daily and Google.........Cooksey-Cawthorne exercises.

See your GP....but no urgency.
