Good for a cold?

I have a bad cold with aching bones and stuffed sinuses. Would a hot bath be a help in getting me a nights sleep? I tossed and turned last night.

It wouldn`t do any harm coupled with Ibruprophen, lots of fluids and a good night`s sleep
Hot bath.
2 x paraceitamol, 2 x iburpofen
1 x lemsip mixed with shot of whiskey and spoonful of honey (lemon and ginger tea with wiskey and honey will do the same thing).
Early night.

(PS: Take the whiskey bit AFTER the hot bath... you'll feel sleepy).
The steam from the bath may well help relieve the congestion, while a relaxing bath is often recommended as a way of relaxing prior to sleep (irrespective of whether you've got a cold or not).

China doll - isnt that too many pills to take?
No. I hurt my neck a while back and this was the recommendation for me to take, if you're still doing it on Monday, call your GP.

And frankly, I'd be more worried about my advice with regards to the whiskey! ;0)

Seriously... That's how I treat my colds. I also take 2 multi vitamins per day too.
Isn't there paracetamol in the lemsip as well?

I can't do baths before bed, I get waaaay to hot anyway so wouldn't be able to sleep. A good long shower for me then cool down, probably stick one of those cool and soothe things on my head, cool blower thing on and window wide open for me (albeit the last two is me every night).

I do get freakishly hot though!

I find Night Nurse really good, just don't plan to be doing much clear thinking for a while in the morning!
Put a couple of drops of olbas oil or similar in the bath too - the fumes with the steam will give your head a good clear out.
I agree with 237SJ

CD....bit heavy on the "pills" just for a cold.

Dear all, I had a hot bath, 2 paracetemols and a hot whisky. I had a good sleep. Still have the cold but feel more able to cope. many thanks for all advice.
A hot curry or hot chilli con carne could help. Try to mince some raw fresh chillis and mix in just before serving. A doctor once told me to build a fire in my tummy if I got a cold.

Echinacea is supposed to help with colds and flu.
Spicey food is brilliant when you've got a cold----it helps to loosen congestion, and warms you up also.
Glad you had a better night lyn.
What can I say, I get very bad colds with lots of aches and pains... ;0)

Plus I hate being ill and would rather just sleep it out in a nice foggy haze until it passes. :c)
