I have to have blood tests every few months for underactive thyroid, but first I have to make an appointment with the doctor just to pick up one of those blood type envelopes which says what you are being tested for, then make another appointment in the same surgery with the nurse to have the blood taken, do others think it would make more sense to leave the envelope at reception as they do with my repeat prescription, then i would only have to make an appointment with the nurse to have my blood taken rather than waste an appointment with the doctor.

I phone my doctor sometimes to save an appointment, if you don't need to see him for any other tests before the blood test, he may be grateful for your call instead of taking up time at an appointment. You could just ask him to leave an envelope at reception and just go for the blood test. It does seem to make more sense.

I did try to do that smurf but was told i have to come in for an appointment, so when I go to the doctor I am going to point it out, as I think its a waste of an appointment just to pick up the envelope.
