mr fruit recently caught an infection through his suprapubic cathater which made his testicles swell to the size of an aubergine, he was in hospital on antibiotic drip for 2 days then sent home with 2 weeks worth of antibiotics, i am getting a bit worried because he does'nt seem to be improving he has no appetite, is as weak as a kitten, keeps getting hot and flushed and has now developed a cough, could this all be due to the antibiotics?

It's far more likely to be because the antibiotics simply aren't working. Mr Fruit's doctor may well want to consider trying an alternative. (Persuade Mr F to consult him a.s.a.p).

Orchitis hurts like hell but antibiotics can normally deal with it fairly swiftly. (I write from VERY painful experience!). If Mr F is getting hot and flushed it suggests that the infection is still rampant throughout his body, and that urgent alternative treatment needs to be sought.

thanks will be ringing the doc in the morning
Fruitsalad....why has he a supra pubic catheter?

Antibiotics: He obviously settled down on the IV antibiotics in hospital otherwise they would never have discharged him. This would suggest that the problem is not with the antibiotics.

The sinister part of this story is the onset of the cough. Emphasise this to your GP when you ring him.

the reason he has the cathater Squad is because back in june he could'nt pee for 5 days he left it before calling the doctor by which time his bladder had stretched and he had done some damage to his kidneys, they put in the cathater to drain off the fluid, he then had an op on his prostate (turp) i believe they call it, they left the cathater in after the op until he could start peeing normally which he did do, but then just last week caught the infection, the cathater was due to be taken out yesterday but they have said it must stay in a while longer until the swelling in the testicles goes down which they are now starting to do.
