for the past week or two (im sorry totally lost track of time ive been off work ill and stuck in the house for about a month and a half!) i have experienced swelling of the soft palate on the roof of my mouth.

This swelling tends to be worse in the mornings after waking up. At first i thought it could be silent reflux causing this due to my taking anti inflammatroies for a month. However for the past 2 days now i have stopped taking the anti inflammatories completley. This has not stopped or helped.

I am wondering if perhaps i developed a strange reaction to the arthrotec (the anti inflammatory) i was taking - i read somewhere on the net someone experienced a similar reaction with different medication and it took a week to full ware off.

I have no pain, the swelling isnt sore, infact i find it hard to stop moving my tounge over and around it messing with it! There doesnt seem to be any marks, lumps, bumps, or spots of any kind. Just swelling.

I already have an ENT appointment due in June, i would go back to the doctor but there is no point - they say its nothing to worry about and it feels worse than it is - and of course everytime i see the doctor the symptoms have died down so he doesnt appreciate how uncomfortable/worrying it looks.

Of course now i have a virus - so i have a sore throat, inflammed tonsils and swelling which makes it incrediably uncomfortable - i guess maybe i was looking for advice/reassurance that its nothing too major - as everyone else i tell doesnt seem that bothered - when sometimes i feel it does effect my breathing - even just slightly - i can feel every little change that happens.

Is there a swelling in the roof of your mouth, if so, rock hard or soft?

Are you saying that there are times when the roof of your mouth is normal?
You say sometimes it affects your breathing...are you sure your not having some sort of panic attack?

Ive seen a lot of questions from you on here recently, are you sure your not getting yourself in a panic about your general health? I did this once, and it is a terrible feeling.,,,and im still here, moaning and nagging ;o)

yeah - there is swelling on the roof of my mouth and its soft, i can depress the swelling without any pain.

but sometimes yeah its strange - it does appear to go back to normal...it seems to just be totally random some days find some days not i cant seem to find a specific pattern. Some days its really bad - as in, it will last all day. Other days it will last hours, but eventually go down.

and yes sometimes it does affect my breathing - i know this isnt a panic attack - because i am always calm and dont freak out - i know its affected my breathing because i can feel the air having to go through a tighter gap in the back of my throat than normal due to the swelling. Another wierd symptom is with my salivia - sometimes when its really bad my mouth will go dry and i am unable to spit - all i can manage it druel....
Bizzare symptoms but could be salivary adenoma of hard palate.
