Low clotting factor.

Several months ago after a blood test I was told my clotting factor was low. I was referred to see a doctor (haematologist) at a hospital only about 15 miles away. I have had 6 or 7 blood tests which confirmed the low count.On my last visit I was told that overall the tests were inconclusive and the cause has not been found and I now have to see a consultant at a hospital over 60 miles away to be retested.Why can't they send the blood to him does anyone know if this is possible?Thanks twinny

I don't see why they just couldn't send the blood results to the new Haematologist. Ask your GP for a explanation.

Most samples relating to testing for clotting factors can be frozen and transported that way, but I doubt the request for you to travel is solely to take a blood sample - Its more likely that the consultant to whom you have been referred to can see you personally and ask their own questions - but were I in your shoes, I would contact their secretary to clarify exactly why they need to see you, and what you can do to minimise the inconvenience.
