A friend has the same problem and was prescribed an ointment designed to kill off the mites that live on all of our eyelids as well as treatment for Blepharitis.
He uses it only about twice or three times a month on going to bed. Here in the U.S. the brand name is Tobrex...

Thank you all for your replies.

I use an eyebath every morning with boiled water,
When I first got the prosthetic eye,(26 years ago) the specialist told me to use salt in the water but after a whileit irritated me.Then I used eyewash from the chemist...again after a while...irritation.

The doc keeps on giving me the same thing which SOMETIMES helps.

I do find that every couple of weeks or so,it helps to take it out for a night.I even stopped using mascara a long time ago .

As you can imagine, am at my wits end with the itching, which is by the way, only the one eye.

Clanad...do you know exactly what Tobrex is...drops etc.

Once again thank you's to all of you.

Here in the U.S., Tobrex comes in either drops or ointment. I occasionally have an attack of Blepharitis and use th eointment, Just a thin line layed inside the lower lid at night. Only one or two treatments does the job. I sincerely hope you find relief...
