single mum on holiday

Hi I am very happily going abroad next week with my 2; it's just my first time away as a single person.
Anyone got any tips and advice.
Thanks.

Been on holiday many a time on my own, but without children. All i can really say is don't let being on your own stop you from doing anything. I find that you just get talking to people really easily and find that you aren't alone for long. Good for you and have fun.

keep your eyes on your children at all times.

feed them healthy foods and don't let them eat junk.

make sure they get enough rest otherwise they will be cranky and you'd want to send them home.

don't buy everything they ask you to.

take plenty pictures of them.

remind them to use their manners (i'm guessing you've taught them some.)

if its a beach holiday, I suggest taking some good books and an ipod to enjoy when you get some quiet time.

have fun! x

I've led such a sheltered life!

enjoy the holiday, Sunflower. it's about all of you getting what you want from it so if they're young enough to enjoy a kids' club, book yourself some "me" time :o)

thanks all for your replies. We are all really excited and I know we will have a good time; nothing has ever stopped us before.
I will pack books, ipod and , er , vaseline. Sounds too tempting an offer Rev; I don't get out much ; )

The most important thing Sunflower is to take advantage of not having to do the normal run of the mill boring stuff of a normal day back home (eg....cooking, cleaning, washing and ironing, school run etc......) and just enjoy having time with your brood and relaxing. hope the sun smiles on you. have a great time. ENJOY :-)

how old are your 2? You may well find having kids with you is a great way to meet people, other tourists or locals; kids tend to make friends quicker than adults do

Elvis!!!! You are brave with that one lol.
No chance of a kids club the kids hate them always have done! I did as a kid too actually...
They like to be around mum and dad on holiday, or now, just mum.
Mr Sunflower doesn't like hot places so now he lives away we are going for it! Can't wait quite frankly.
Oh and my boy is 10 and my girl is 8.

Thanks sunflower, I can`t see the point in going away and putting kids in a "kidz club"

I`m sure your kids will get to know other kids by the pool and you`ll probably make friends with their parents

Enjoy your hols
